A Whole-Body Approach Rooted in Classical Chinese Medicine
Welcome to Balance Acupuncture.
Hi, I’m Julia (Ya Zhu) Gabriel. My work is rooted in classical Chinese medicine and Balance Method Acupuncture, with a focus on understanding the body as an interconnected whole rather than only treating isolated symptoms.
From the very beginning — even during my training — I was drawn to understanding how stress, emotions, lifestyle, compensation, and longer‑term patterns shape the body. This way of seeing the body was one of the things that originally drew me to Balance Method Acupuncture.
Whether someone is experiencing pain, digestive discomfort, sleep difficulties, emotional stress, hormonal changes, fatigue, or longer‑term imbalance, my focus is to support the body in regulating and rebalancing in a clear, precise way. For many straightforward acute pain conditions, people often notice significant relief within the first few sessions (sometimes within 1–4 treatments), while deeper or more complex patterns generally require a longer course of care.
My work was previously based in Kelowna and Vernon. I recently relocated and now offer sessions in South Surrey / White Rock and Langley.
Areas of Support
I’ve supported patients with a wide range of concerns, including:
Pain & Tension
Back pain, neck tension, headaches, migraines, sciatica, and long‑term musculoskeletal discomfort. Many of these patterns respond quickly to precise, channel‑based treatment, with noticeable change often within the first few sessions. Learn more about Pain Relief Acupuncture.

What You Can Expect
Personalized Care
Treatments are tailored to your constitution, symptoms, and overall system presentation rather than using the same approach for everyone.
Classical Chinese Medicine Perspective
I use traditional diagnostic methods such as pulse and tongue observation to better understand broader patterns within the body.
Whole-System Thinking
Rather than focusing only on isolated symptoms, treatment looks at how different systems influence each other. This allows us to work with immediate concerns such as pain, sleep, or digestion, while also addressing the underlying pattern
Gentle Self-Care Guidance
When appropriate, I may also provide:
- dietary suggestions
- lifestyle observations
- simple acupressure techniques
- seasonal support based on classical Chinese medicine
If you are in acute pain or dealing with a specific internal issue, we still begin with what is most pressing right now, while using this broader framework to guide precise treatment.
